The Changing American Landscape
Significant changes have been made by the Trump Administration using executive orders, regulatory powers and legislation in the area of work and employment policy. This includes weakening workplace health and safety, discrimination, and fair pay protections, as well as further shifting the balance of power between unions and management away from employees and to employers. This presentation will focus on the changing American landscape in these areas.
Labor Management Partnerships: Improving Healthcare
One strategy for enhancing the performance of healthcare systems is labor-management partnerships. In a number of countries, unions representing healthcare workers and the management of healthcare institutions have forged partnerships in healthcare workplaces, both as reactions to challenging and problematic relationships, and as proactive measures to improve workplace relationships and patient care. In many instances, this collaboration has resulted in improvements in the quality of care and lower costs. This presentation will focus on labor management partnerships in the U.S. and Scotland.
